About the Artist

In the late 1970's, Donna began painting after an odd accident where she fractured her arm while ice skating. Out of sheer boredom, she found that painting was one thing that she was able to do with only one working limb. Without any formal training, she purchased the basic supplies, and amusingly jokes "It was love at first stroke." She began with oil on canvas using "how to" books from her local art supply store and started painting images of barns and landscapes. Her love for the art (her art) grew and intensified. In early to mid-2010's, at the ever so young age of 70, she began experimenting with abstracts using acrylic on canvas.

Donna is a native of Omaha, NE and a retired Omaha City employee. She loves life and feels lucky to be alive after being struck by lightning at the age of four complicated by the fact she grew up never having a bicycle. Even after enduring such tragic life events, she awakens every morning with a loud "Good Morning" greeting to her scottish terrier and faithful companion "Lucy" (often referred to as Dog Face). At her current age of 80, she finds painting a wonderful form of entertainment and a excellent release from "old geezer" boredom.
